When the IPL resumed on May 17, English all-rounder Moeen Ali, who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season, did not return to the nation.

When the cross-border tensions increased earlier this month, Moeen remembered a terrifying event that happened while he was in India and his parents were in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Following the midway stoppage of the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala due to blackouts on May 8, Moeen was in India with his wife and kids when the tournament was suspended on May 9.

On the Beard Before Wicket podcast, Moeen disclosed that his parents were in the PoK, approximately an hour’s drive from the Indian missile strike site during Operation Sindoor.

In reality, my parents were in Kashmir at the time. in Pakistan, most likely just an hour or so from the location of the strikes. Perhaps a little further. It was a little crazy, but they were able to get the only flights out that day. It was crazy, but I’m glad they got out,” he said.

It was crazy; clearly, those attacks in Kashmir occurred before things really got going. Then things quickly got out of hand, and suddenly we’re in the middle of it.

‘It felt like we’re in the middle of a war, but obviously we didn’t hear anything (like missiles striking). You suddenly find yourself rushing to leave the country and making sure that your family is okay. “People back home are worried about you, and I just wanted to make sure they’re comfortable too,” he continued.
