Mahavatar Narasimha, an ambitious animated film from Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, is poised to change the course of box office history.

In just 26 days since its premiere, the mythological epic, which uses state-of-the-art animation to reimagine the iconic Lord Vishnu avatar, has made about Rs 280 crore worldwide. According to industry trackers, the movie is expected to become the first Indian animated film to reach the coveted Rs 300 crore milestone in the days ahead.

With its combination of rich visual storytelling and mythological grandeur, Mahavatar Narasimha, which was released on July 25, 2025, in five Indian languages and 3D formats, has been able to appeal to audiences of all ages.

Its popularity indicates that there is a growing demand for Indian animation on the big screen, a genre that has historically had trouble becoming popular at the box office.

Ashwin Kumar is the film’s director, and Hombale Films is presenting it. Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai are producing it under Kleem Productions.

The creators have also revealed plans for a large-scale animated series that will follow Lord Vishnu’s ten avatars. Mahavatar Parshuram (2027), Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029), Mahavatar Dwarkadhish (2031), Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033), and Mahavatar Kalki in two parts (2035, 2037) are on the slate after Mahavatar Narasimha (2025).

Mahavatar Narasimha, which has made close to ₹300 crore, is being heralded as a landmark film in Indian animation. Experts in the field think it establishes a new standard for mythological storytelling in mainstream Indian cinema as well as for animated films.

If it keeps going in the same direction, the movie might lay a solid basis for a ten-year franchise, solidifying Kleem Productions and Hombale Films as forerunners in fusing cultural heritage with universal appeal.
