On Tuesday, a Mumbai police officer who was seen close to the home of well-known YouTuber BeerBiceps, also known as Ranveer Allahbadia, explained that his presence was solely for security reasons. “It’s my duty to conduct routine rounds,” the officer said, dismissing any conjecture. I didn’t go over to his house or give anyone any notice.

The policeman went on to say that he was responsible for making regular rounds in the area, including a visit in the morning, as the beat master. He made it clear that he was not under any authority to look into any matter pertaining to Ranveer Allahbadia. He had previously reaffirmed that their presence was purely for security reasons and said that there was no specific information available about the situation.

The Mumbai Police have called both YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, the host of the show India’s Got Latent, for interrogation in the wake of the controversy surrounding his offensive comments on the program. The authorities rejected Raina’s plea and told him to appear as soon as possible, despite his attorney’s request for an extension for his appearance.

According to reports, participants in the show have informal conversations in an unscripted format. Six people have already had their statements recorded by police as part of the investigation.

The controversy started when Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as “Beer Biceps,” made a contentious remark while interacting with a contestant in a widely shared video from the show. He asked an inappropriate question in the video, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The remark sparked massive backlash, leading to widespread outrage against the show and its panelists.

Numerous complaints were filed against Ranveer Allahbadia and other show hosts for making offensive and vulgar comments after the contentious episode clip went viral on Monday. In reaction to the criticism, Allahbadia apologized in public.

Political figures, influencers, and actors harshly criticized the controversy, calling the comments “crass and irresponsible.” As a result of the outcry, YouTube India removed the Samay Raina’s show episode that was previously exclusive to its members. The Indian government ordered the removal, which heightened the discussion about digital platform accountability and content moderation.
