IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and RR: Sunrisers Hyderabad crushed the second-highest IPL total ever, and Ishan Kishan scored the second-fastest century by an Indian in his Sunrisers Hyderabad debut.
SRH vs RR, IPL 2025: In their season opener at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, Sunrisers Hyderabad, captained by Pat Cummins, set a massive target of 287 runs for the visitors, smashing the second-highest total in IPL history. They were playing the Rajasthan Royals, led by Riyan Parag.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, amassed a massive 286 runs off six wickets in 20 overs. In his first game for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ishan Kishan scored the second-fastest century by an Indian.
IPL 2025: SRH vs. RR: second-highest IPL score ever
In terms of statistics, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 286 runs rank second both in their own history and in the history of the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s highest score of 287 runs off three wickets came against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2024, while they had previously scored 277 runs off three wickets against the Mumbai Indians.
IPL 2025: Innings history between SRH and RR
Last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad came very close to breaking their own IPL record of 287/3 against RCB. On a sunny afternoon in Hyderabad earlier on Sunday, the orange-clad men got off to a spectacular start against the Rajasthan Royals. Sunrisers Hyderabad became the joint fastest team in history to reach 200 in just 14.1 overs.
In his 100th IPL innings, Ishan Kishan scored his first IPL century in 45 balls. In the 19th over, he went from 86 to 100 in just 3 balls.
Travis Head gave the SRH the third-best powerplay score in IPL history with a scorching 67 off just 31 balls. After making 94/1 in powerplay, the Sunrisers needed 4 more balls to reach 100 in the seventh over.
After Head was fired, Ishan Kishan took center stage, and Jofra Archer was especially liked by both left-handers. Head hit a 105-meter monster six over deep square leg and 22 other runs off Archer’s opening over. The highlight came later when Ishan Kishan hit three sixes in Archer’s third over.
Heinrich Klaasen played a quickfire 34 off 14 balls and his dismissal in the 19th over stopped SRH from breaching the 300-run barrier
