New Delhi: By matching a legendary record held by Sir Garfield Sobers, Ravindra Jadeja has cemented his name into cricketing legend. The Indian all-rounder tied Sobers’ 1966 record for the most 50+ scores at No. 6 or lower in an English Test series on Day 5 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford. It was his fifth 50-plus score of the current Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

Jadeja and Sobers both accomplished the feat in eight innings, demonstrating the Indian all-rounder’sdependabilityand influence in the lower-middle order. Because of his performance, Jadeja is now firmly listed among the greatest West Indians.

Jadeja also achieved nine fifty-plus scores at No. 6 or lower, which he now shares with Sobers, making him the second most prolific visiting batter in England.

In addition, he is one of just two visiting cricketers in England to reach 1000 runs at that position; the other is Sobers once more.
In addition to his all-around dominance, Jadeja has now claimed 34 wickets in England, making him just the third visiting player to take 30 or more wickets and score 1000 or more runs in a nation, after Wilfred Rhodes (in Australia), a legend of the Sobers and England.

In the fourth Test, India rallied from 0/2 to finish at 425/4, securing a hard-fought draw against England’s massive 669-run first innings, thanks in large part to Jadeja’s undefeated 107.

Jadeja has tied VVS Laxman’s 2002 record in the West Indies with five fifty-plus scores in the current series, more than any other Indian batting at No. 6 or lower in a single Test series.
Jadeja is currently second only to MS Dhoni (13), having amassed 12 fifty-plus scores in SENA countries while batting lower in the order. He has accomplished this feat in just 47 innings, which is an incredible strike rate for someone who has long been regarded as a bowling all-rounder.

Jadeja’s recent series scores of 89, 69*, 72, 61*, 20, and 107* demonstrate not only their consistency but also their capacity to influence match results under duress. With England leading the series 2-1, he is still crucial to India’s hopes going into the final Test at The Oval.
