Known for his carefully chosen brand endorsements, Aamir Khan recently surprised fans by appearing in a number of ads for Dream11, a popular fantasy sports website, alongside well-known celebrities like Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Ranbir Kapoor.
Given that the actor has consistently refrained from promoting products like alcohol and tobacco, which aligns with his personal values, the decision attracted some attention.
Aamir addressed the issues and provided insight into his endorsement strategy in an interview with Zoom. “I always make sure that the product is delivering what they have promised,” he explained. Although he holds himself to a set of ethical standards, he added that on rare occasions, he has deviated from his own rules when a campaign’s creative value has captured his attention.
I occasionally violate my own principles. For instance, since I am not a salesperson, I never disclose the cost of the product I am promoting. I represent a brand. I am able to discuss your brand, but not its cost. I once disregarded that rule and mentioned price as well. This occurred when “Chota Coke” cost Rs 5. because its story truly appealed to me. I gave in because it was so inventive,” he remarked.
In response to inquiries about his relationship with Dream11, he disclosed, “I have refused alcohol and tobacco.” People asked me, “Are you doing Dream11?” after I recently completed it, and I declined to use tobacco or alcohol. But Dream11’s script was excellent. I was unable to refuse it. After reading that advertisement, I burst out laughing. I had a strong desire to do it. Regarding the product, we won’t run any advertisements for it if it is unlawful. And let me do it too, if it’s legal.
Regarding his career, Aamir Khan is getting ready for his June 20 release of Sitaare Zameen Par, which will mark his big-screen return.
The film, which stars Genelia Deshmukh opposite Aamir, is a spiritual follow-up to Taare Zameen Par (2007) and was inspired by the Spanish hit Campeones.
