Two significant releases, two opposing genres, and only one obvious winner. At the box office, Ajay Devgn’s action-comedy “Son of Sardaar 2” is still dominating, but Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s romantic social drama “Dhadak 2” is clearly struggling.
Both movies have now spent five days in theaters since their August 1, 2025, release. According to Sacnilk, the data makes it abundantly evident that Ajay Devgn’s comedy sequel is far ahead.

Plot of Son of Sardaar 2
Vijay Kumar Arora, the director, creates a spiritual follow-up to Devgn’s popular 2012 movie. The story revolves around Jassi (Ajay Devgn), who goes to Scotland in order to bring his family back together but instead gets caught up in hostage situations, mafia conflicts, and a tumultuous Sikh wedding.
Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Panday, Sharat Saxena, Kubbra Sait, Sahil Mehta, Dolly Ahluwalia, Ravi Kishan, Vindu Dara Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, and Roshni Walia are among the prominent members of the ensemble. This comedy-action-family drama hybrid is supported by Jio Studios and Devgn Films.
Story of Dhadak 2
This socially conscious romantic drama is produced by Dharma Productions and is based on the Tamil film “Pariyerum Perumal.” A Dalit law student named Neelesh (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and an upper-caste girl named Vidhi (Tripti Dimri) are at the heart of the narrative, which explores “themes of caste discrimination, love and social resistance” as they negotiate social barriers.
Alongside the lead couple, supporting cast members Saad Bilgrami, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Zakir Hussain give standout performances.
