Bhagwat Chapter 1 begins with Poonam Mishra’s disappearance from Robertsganj, a small town in Uttar Pradesh. The girl’s parents file a missing complaint with a local police station, and Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat (Arshad Warsi) is transferred from Lucknow due to anger issues. While investigating the case, the cop discovers similar cases that eventually lead to a prostitution ring. During the investigation, Bhagwat meets Professor Sameer (Jitendra Kumar), whose complex personality hides behind his calm demeanour.
While investigating the case, Bhagwat discovers that 19 girls have gone missing in the last four years, and Professor Sameer is the person responsible. Bhagwat will now do everything he can to ensure that all 19 girls are treated fairly.
Bhagwat Chapter 1 – Raakshas Review: Direction, Storyline, and Screenplay
Akshay Shere directed Bhagwat Chapter 1 – Raakshas, and we have to say he did a good job. He attempted to make the film engaging but was unsuccessful due to poor execution. Bhagwat Chapter 1 – Raakshas starts off on a promising note and manages to keep you hooked within the first thirty minutes. However, as soon as other characters are introduced in the film, you will begin to compare it to Sonakshi Sinha and Vijay Varma’s web series Dahaad.
Yes, the story is very similar to the Amazon Prime Video series. Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas is like old wine served in the same bottle with a bland taste. Bhavini Bheda’s story and screenplay are generally acceptable. As the film progresses, it becomes more predictable. The second half of Bhagwat contains some difficult to digest elements, such as courtroom scenes.
In fact, some details are missing from the film. Arshad Warsi’s character is a police officer who enters the courtroom without his uniform. After seeing it, you’ll start to question the execution. On the other hand, Jitendra Kumar’s character Sameer fights the case on his own and faces the police investigation without hesitation. You’ll miss the tense situation in Bhagwat Chapter 1 – Raakshas, which can be seen in many old classic Bollywood courtroom dramas. Moreover, Sumit Saxena’s dialogues are very average.

Arshad Warsi as Bhagwat has done a good job. His personality is portrayed as strict, with a no-nonsense attitude. However, his character’s tone remains consistent throughout the film. Arshad’s character lacks depth. Jitendra Kumar, as Sameer, delivers the best performance in Bhagwat Chapter 1—Raakshas. The actor has immersed himself in the role and outperformed Arshad with his outstanding performance. Jitendra’s personality is similar to that of a chameleon, changing color depending on the situation. Meera, played by Ayesha Kaduskar, is decent. Her character has an unexpected twist at the end, which you will have to see to believe. Other supporting actors, including Tara Alisha Berry, Devas Dikshit, Hemant Saini, and others, did excellent work.
Bhagwat Chapter 1 – Raakshas: Technical Aspects
Bhagwat Chapter 1 – Raakshas is excellent in technical terms. Amogh Deshpande’s cinematography is excellent. He’s captured the city and its vibes beautifully through his lenses. On the other hand, Hemal Kothari’s editing is precise. The background score, composed by Mangesh Dhadke, is decent.

Overall, Bhagwat Chapter 1 – Raakshas is an average film that gives the audience nothing but old wine in the same bottle. You will crave some outstanding moments but be disappointed with the viewing experience. The two lead actors delivered strong performances, but the crime thriller lacked spark.
