Today is Mahavir Jayanti, and the NSE and BSE are closed. The markets will observe three April holidays; see the MCX holidays

Due to Good Friday, Ambedkar Jayanti, and Mahavir Jayanti, the stock markets will be closed for three days this month.

In April 2025, the Indian stock markets will be closed for three days in a row. For the duration of these days, all derivatives, equity, SLB, currency, and interest rate trading will be closed.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE release the stock market holiday calendar every year.

This month’s first holiday will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in honor of Shri Mahavir Jayanti. This month, there will be two additional holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.

In the meantime, traders and investors should be aware that Tuesday, October 21, 2025, will be a trading holiday due to Diwali Laxmi Pujan. On that day, Muhurat Trading will take place. The exchanges will notify the public in a circular in October of the Muhurat Trading timings.
With the exception of Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays that the exchanges have announced in advance, trading in the stocks segment occurs every day of the week.

MCX Holidays

This month, on April 18 (Good Friday), the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed for both sessions. On April 10 and 14, however, the exchange will only be open for business in the morning. Trading will resume in the evening between 5:00 and 11:30 or 11:55 p.m.

The exchange’s morning session runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
