BMC Election Results 2026: Mumbai’s ward-by-ward list of victorious candidates

BMC Election Results2026: The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is ahead in more than 115 wards, the Shiv Sena (UBT) is trailing, while Nishikant Govind Shinde and Khairunisa Akbar Husain have noteworthy victories, according to BMC election counting.

With 118 of the 227 seats in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, the BJP and the Shiv Sena alliance led by Eknath Shinde won a resounding majority on Friday.

With 89 seats, the BJP became the largest party, while Shinde’s Shiv Sena added 29, moving the alliance above the halfway point of 114 seats needed to govern India’s wealthiest local body. A total of 72 seats were gained by the opposition coalition of the Shiv Sena (UBT), MNS, and NCP (Sharad Pawar group). Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena won six seats, Sharad Pawar’s NCP got just one, and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) won 65.

The Congress won 24 seats, AIMIM eight, Ajit Pawar’s NCP three, and the Samajwadi Party two, but the other parties fared poorly. In addition, two independent candidates won the crucial elections that were held following a nine-year hiatus.

The union between the Thackeray cousins

The reunion of Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray after over two decades attracted attention to the election. To oppose opposing coalitions, their parties, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Shiv Sena (UBT), agreed to share seats. Shiv Sena (UBT) ran candidates in roughly 160 wards under the agreement, whereas MNS ran candidates in about 53 wards. However, BJP officials asserted that people saw the partnership as motivated more by private interests than by the common good.
