This evening in New Delhi, there was a strong vehicle explosion close to the Lal Quila Metro Station. In an interview with the media, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha stated that an explosion occurred in a slow-moving vehicle at approximately 6:52 PM after it stopped at a red light. “Nearby vehicles were also damaged due to the explosion,” he added. According to the Police Commissioner, the incident has resulted in some fatalities and injuries.

The Delhi Fire Service told Akashvani News that they were contacted about the incident at approximately 6:55 p.m. In order to contain the fire, seven fire tenders were sent to the scene, according to the report. They added that the explosion also caused one or two cars in the vicinity to catch fire.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer AK Malik told reporters that seven units were dispatched to the scene after receiving information about the explosion in a car close to Chandni Chowk Metro Station. He continued by saying that the teams are on the scene and that the fire was contained at 7:29 PM.

Senior police officers from Delhi have also arrived at the scene. Following the explosion, several casualties were taken to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital, according to news agency ANI, which cited sources. Numerous injured people were also taken to the hospital in a hurry.
