The Rishab Shetty-directed film has now reached the ₹500 crore milestone, just over two weeks after its premiere. The epic mythological action movie made almost ₹13 crore on Saturday, according to Sacnilk.com.

Kantara Chapter 1’s performance at the box office

Even after its second week, the movie is still holding sway at the box office. The movie made ₹8.85 crore on day 15. It made ₹8.5 crore on the third Friday of day 16 and ₹12.50 crore on the third Saturday. As a result, Rishab’s film has now brought in ₹506.25 crore in India.

The movie’s earnings should slightly increase with Diwali approaching, but Maddock Films’ Thamma, which opens on October 21, will also be a fierce competitor at the Hindi box office.

Rishab Shetty recently appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz show. In addition to praising him for helming Kantara Chapter 1, Big B also congratulated him on the film’s success.

“First of all, I must apologise for not having seen your films yet, you know how our schedules are,” he said, adding that his daughter Shweta Bachchan had trouble sleeping for a few days after seeing the movie. The film, which is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara: A Legend, was written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under the Hombale Films banner. In addition, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah play key roles in the movie, which explores into the origins of the traditions and ancestral conflict introduced in the first instalment.
