Initial reports state that the actress had a cardiac arrest late Friday night and was pronounced dead when she arrived at Mumbai’s Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital.

Television actor Parag Tyagi, Shefali’s husband, took her to the hospital with three other people. She had already died before arriving at the hospital, according to hospital sources.

Shefali had passed away prior to her arrival. The body was accompanied by her spouse and a few other people, according to a hospital receptionist.

Dr. Vijay Lulla, a cardiologist, was referred to the hospital by the resident medical officer for further information, but he declined, citing confidentiality. “We are sending the body for post-mortem to Cooper Hospital,” said Dr. Sushant, another hospital physician who confirmed the news.

The entertainment industry and her fans, many of whom recall her as a pop culture icon of the early 2000s, have been shocked by the actress’s unexpected death. A remix of a traditional Hindi song called “Kaanta Laga” launched Shefali into immediate stardom and made her a household name.
