The only billionaire under thirty who did not inherit his fortune is MrBeast, a 27-year-old YouTuber whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he is the eighth youngest billionaire in the world, with an estimated fortune of $1 billion (₹8,350 crore).

Who is MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson?

Born in Greenville, North Carolina, on May 7, 1998, MrBeast began using the YouTube username “MrBeast6000” when he was twelve years old. After leaving college, he focused on content creation full-time and graduated from Greenville Christian Academy.

Over 415 million people have subscribed to his YouTube channels, which include MrBeast, Beast Reacts, MrBeast Gaming, and MrBeast Philanthropy.

With 270 million subscribers, MrBeast’s primary channel is now the most popular YouTube channel globally.

How did Mr. Beast become well-known?

His early work included funny compilations, reaction videos, and commentary on video games. MrBeast initially became well-known in 2017 after creating the viral video “Counting to 100,000,” which took him 44 hours to complete and received over 21 million views. He built on that success by coming up with other viral stunts, like reading the entire dictionary, counting to 200,000, and taking on odd tasks like watching a music video repeatedly for ten hours.

By 2018, he had become an expert in what is now known as “stunt philanthropy.” That is, making videos with eye-catching challenges that involve giving away large sums of money. He was seen donating $1,000 to strangers in one of the first widely watched videos. The sums increased significantly in the videos that followed, eventually reaching hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars.

He held a challenge in December 2019 where participants had to hold their hand over a $1 million cash pile. The winner was the last person to remove their hand.

It is well known that MrBeast invests almost all of the money he makes from videos in creating new material. It was reported in November 2022 that he was seeking investors for his $1.5 billion company.

MrBeast was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2023. With an estimated net worth of $1 billion (roughly ₹8,350 crore), he was named the highest-paid YouTube creator of 2024 by Forbes the following year.

His business empire generated $223 million in 2023 and was expected to reach $700 million in 2024, according to court documents pertaining to his MrBeast Burgers venture filed in early 2024. These numbers verified that, at the age of 26, MrBeast became a billionaire in June 2024. MrBeast was unique among the 16 billionaires under 30 in the world at the time in that he had made all of hismoney from his fortune entirely on his own, without any inherited wealth.

  1. MrBeast’s journey is truly inspiring, especially how he turned his passion for content creation into a billion-dollar empire. It’s fascinating to see how he started with simple videos and evolved into a global phenomenon. His “stunt philanthropy” is a unique approach that not only entertains but also makes a real impact on people’s lives. I wonder how he manages to keep coming up with such creative and engaging ideas. Do you think his success is more about his creativity or his ability to connect with his audience? Also, with his focus on reinvesting almost all his earnings, do you believe he’ll continue to grow his influence, or is there a limit to how far he can go? It’s impressive how he’s redefined what it means to be a YouTuber, but I’m curious—what’s next for him?
